This game was one of the first popular Nintendo 64 multi player titles because it featured everyones favorite Nintendo characters racing against each other. They have faster acceleration but not as high top speed. There are currently two versions of Mario Kart 64. One for the Nintendo 64 and one for the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Wii version is much faster than the 64 version. If Nintendo ever releases an online version of Mario Kart 64 to compete in live races. Mario Kart Wii will be featured online but not Mario Kart 64 unless Wii Shop features N64 multi-player titles online.
